The United Nations is an international organisation founded in 1945 and today has 193 Member States. The mission and work of the United Nations is based on the notions of peace, dignity and equality on a healthy planet. It compiles numerous statistics to measure situations and assists its Member States in implementing solutions. It has also set out 17 Sustainable Development Goals that provide a roadmap to a better and more sustainable future for all on issues related to poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, peace and justice.
